Folding your zine

1. 1Fold in half the long way with the print facing out. Crease it well, then open it.
2. 2Fold in half the short way. Crease, then open again.
3. 3Fold each end in to meet the center crease. Open it flat: you now have eight panels.
4. 4Fold the short way again. From the folded edge, cut along the middle crease one panel deep, and stop there.
5. 5Open flat and fold the long way again. Push both ends toward the middle so the slit opens into a plus shape.
6. 6Press it flat with the front cover on top. That's your zine.

1. 1Print on both sides at actual size, flipping on the short edge. If the backs come out upside down, print again with flip on long edge.
2. 2Stack the sheets in the order they printed, with sheet 1 on the outside and its front facing out.
3. 3Fold the whole stack in half along the center line and crease it hard.
4. 4Open it and staple twice along the fold from the outside. No long-reach stapler? Open a regular one flat and staple into a piece of cardboard, then bend the legs down.
5. 5Close it with the front cover on top. With many pages the inner sheets stick out a little; trim the open edge if you want it flush.

1. 1Print on both sides at actual size, flipping on the short edge. If the back comes out upside down, print again with flip on long edge.
2. 2Fold along each dashed line, switching direction every time, so the strip zigzags like a fan.
3. 3Press it flat with panel 1 on top as the cover. Readers pull it open to see panels 1 to 4, then turn it over for 5 to 8.

1. 1Print on both sides at actual size, flipping on the short edge. Side 1 carries the cover.
2. 2Lay the sheet with side 1 face down, so side 2 faces you.
3. 3Fold the left half over onto the right half. Do it again: fold the new left half over onto the right. You now have a tall quarter-width strip.
4. 4Fold the top half down over the bottom half. That bundle is your zine, eight leaves thick.
5. 5Trim the folded edges along the top and the right, so the pages can turn. Leave the left fold alone: that is the spine.
6. 6Staple twice through the spine. Check the page numbers with a test sheet the first time you try it.
